Pilgrim's pride of Mt. Pleasant Texas, recently commissioned a new INTEC Spiral Freezer in their Chattanooga, TN facility. This further processing Division of Pilgrim's Pride toured systems and reviewed bids from all the key Spiral Freezer suppliers. After careful evaluation, they decided to go with the relatively new Spiral Freezer supplier, INTEC USA, LLC.
Steve Wilson, Vice President and Regional Manager of Prepared Foods for Pilgrim's Pride said, "There were many distinct design differences from the typical "standard" spiral suppliers and we liked the fresh outlook that INTEC was bringing to the table. From a technology standpoint,we felt:
-
The utilization of horizontal air flow would give us the most consistent freezing profile for all of the products we planned to run. Every product basically sees the same air volume and air temperature no matter where it was within the spiral, giving us a consistent and high quality product to market.
-
The Coil and Fan package design, and how it ties to the spiral freezing zone, allows for long run times between defrost. We run up to 18 to 20 hours per day of production with the INTEC Spiral running in "cold hold" the other 4 to 6 hours each day. We are able to run up to 3 days in a row without defrost or CIP, at a rate of up to 11,000 lbs per hour. The Air Balancing System on the in feed and discharge ports keeps minimum air from entering or exiting the Enclosure, once again insuring longer times with minimal frost build up on the fans and coils.
-
The sanitary rail design and all stainless steel construction makes the INTEC Spiral one of the more "cleanable" spirals that we have seen on the market. The high pressure CIP System and Belt Washing System allow us to meet the time constraints that we fight between the Clean-up window and production.
The support from INTEC throughout and post the installation has been commendable and the overall performance of the Spiral Freezer has met or exceed our expectations. Pilgrim's will pursue INTEC Spiral Freezers for future opportunities throughout the Company.

“ We called, Intec responded, our needs were answered. The speed
with which Intec reacts makes me feel like they are a part of my team.

“ Three years ago, due to increased
use of off-site blasting, Mar-Jac Poultry, Inc. made the decision to
purchase an Intec VRT freezing system. Our Intec system has been in
full production for nearly two years now and it has proven to be a wise
investment.
Through the elimination of the off-site blasting,
the resulting storage and transportation requirements, reduction of
labor, as well as utility efficiencies, Mar Jac experienced a positive
cash flow from the first month.
I can readily and enthusiastically recommend
the Intec VRT System to any company interested in an alternative to
off-site blasting.”

“ Our production requirements and product mix are constantly changing.
In order to meet the needs of our customers and to stay ahead of our
competition, we needed a freezing system that could adapt to any change
in product specification we may encounter. That’s why we purchased
an INTEC VRT system. Their flexibility has given us the competitive
edge we need.”
